The Carrot Project

About the Carrot Project

We want to consume responsibly. We want to send a message with every purchase we make. We want to support only the best, crunchiest businesses.

But.

We've had a hard time making comparisons. We see praise for Colgate, and we see praise for Crest. We hear that New Balance is an awesome, hugely generous and thoughtful company, but we also hear that Nike has taken past criticism to heart and has situated itself snugly on the rails to sustainability. And then we're told it's all meaningless. Every word of it. It's marketing. Greenwash. Token gestures. Sleight of hand.

So we keep on wondering and we keep on closing our eyes and grabbing and hoping we're buying our orange juice from a company that isn't destroying the world.

But we HAVE to be able to do better than that. We MUST, collectively, know more than what a Google search returns.

So we've started The Carrot Project.

We've started building the tools to connect people to all the noteworthy information, in a digestable form, all at once.

We're not scientists. We're not experts. We're just simply people that care.

And we think we can help other people that care by gathering all the info we can - true false disputed controversial whatever - summarizing it, organizing it, presenting it cleanly, clearly, and humbly, and asking everyone out there that knows anything to add to it, adjust it, dispute it, and evolve it.

Hopefully, with some time and some help from all of you, we'll be able to make good comparisons, find the crunchiest businesses, and send a meaningful message any time we buy anything.
