Uses Environmentally Preferred Materials

Saw this yesterday. The new, “eco-preferred” New Balances are for sale.

Dug around for more info and found this…

Not my favorite video ever. But worth seeing how the company describes the shoes.

I have my worries about New Balance. The Made in the USA positioning feels a little disingenuous. And the NB 70 is definitely a partway solution.

But it is an effort, and if does prove to be the beginning of something bigger, then excellent. I’m curious to see if any crunchiness experts out there start publishing opinions.

Note: This is the kind of post we think we should continue to make as we build the site and add product categories. It’d be nice for every prodcat page to feature its own blog/newsfeed of information about that product category. Important to stay current with everything: CP staff keeps an eye on things and posts stuff like this; everyone in the CP community knows that the comments they submit will, if they’re good, become posts in the prodcat feeds (and posts in this blog feed, which we imagine becoming a combination of all prodcat feeds plus general commentary on anything carrot-related). We hope. Good ideas? Bad ideas? Thoughts?
