I spent yesterday afternoon with my sister and Touchstones, the discussion-based learning nonprofit with which she works, in a medium security prison between Washington DC and Annapolis, MD.
As soon as I got through security, I went to the bathroom, and on a dusty little shelf between the toilet and the sink was an extra roll of toilet paper.
100% recycled. Bay West EcoSoft. A brand belonging to Wausau Paper, one of the largest property owners in Wisconsin, a company that claims to manage most of that forest sustainably.
All would be better than most, of course.
But don’t forget the 100% recycled aspect. Or the fact that we’re talking about a prison, a species of toilet paper consumer not (yet) known for its crunchiness.

A few more posts on this subject, you might need to rename the site tpproject. It doesn’t have quite the same ring to it though.
