Greener Grass

Every time I log into the site, I think about the chemicals necessary to make our upside-down grass so monoculture perfect. Yuck.

I like the look though. Especially the upside-downness.

Can’t say it’s going to be a priority, but we have talked about replacing it with some kind of biodiverse prairiescape.

What do you think? Other ideas?

I agree completely.

Anyone out there have a great low-angle shot of bio-diverse grass against a solid background? From there it’s easy.

Let me check with my friend the ecologist, he studies grassland ecology in Inner Mongolia. Bet he’s got a little summin’ summin’.

hm.. . . the problem with grasslands is that they can be pretty boring looking, but they do have some potential as graphics elements.

maybe just better to add a little variety in the green of the grass, rather than use a real photo of grass . .

I put a few more images up on my flickr if you’re inspired, but I don’t think they’re exactly what you’re looking for.

Thanks Dan. I think with some photoshopping, these might add to the effect very well.

Now someone just needs to determine the social and environmental impact of photoshop. Also the ethics of digitally remastering grassland to seem more diverse. I’ll leave those questions to someone else.
